I have to confess that I’m optimistic. I have the protesters who I ran into Saturday to blame. I know that if you pay attention to most of the press coverage, they were a dark cloud that descended upon Capitol Hill. But I encountered a celebration of democracy there. Based on my time among the protesters, anyway, these photos seem a lot more representative of the people who showed up Saturday than the awful things that were said to Barney Frank and John Lewis.
