Modesty in Suing

This is not very fun. The Polish president, Lech Kaczynski, has accused the great Lech Walesa of being a Communist agent — of having been a Communist agent in the bad old days. Walesa has taken him to court. A sad, not-fun story, yes, but I have only one small point here. According to the article I have linked to, Walesa’s suit demands that Kaczynski apologize and that he pay — get this — $37,000 in damages. Thirty-seven thousand dollars. They don’t do it in Poland the way we do it here in America. What would John Edwards, for example, say?
