Finally, New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg reveals the philosophy of his assault on sugary drinks — not to mention smoking, trans fats, and possibly, as members of the New York City Board of Health recently hinted, movie-popcorn sizes and high-calorie milk-based beverages.
In an interview with Charlie Rose on CBS’s This Morning, Bloomberg declared, “If government’s purpose isn’t to improve the health and longevity of its citizens, I don’t know what its purpose is.”
