McCarthy vs. the Editors

I’ve already decided which candidate I think would make the best Republican nominee out of this field, so naturally I have my own differences with NR’s editorial on the race. I don’t quite follow the logic of Andrew McCarthy’s dissent from that editorial, though. As far as I can tell, he thinks it is “presumptuous” and “premature” for the editors to weigh in on the merits of the various candidates, because the voters can do that on their own. He then spends the bulk of his piece weighing in on their merits even though the voters can do that on their own. I don’t find all of his arguments about the merits of the candidates persuasive, but I don’t see anything wrong with his offering them — or with the editors’ offering theirs
