Sen. John McCain (R., Ariz.), a member of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security, says that John Brennan, President Obama’s deputy national-security adviser, has “lost all ability to affect” national-security policy. Earlier this week, Brennan wrote an op-ed in USA Today saying “politically-motivated criticism” of the administration’s handling of the failed Christmas Day bombing serves “the goals of al-Qaeda.” McCain told Sean Hannity of Fox News on Wednesday that Brennan’s statement is “beyond an outrage” and a “new low.” Does this mean McCain wants Brennan to resign? “No,” says a McCain spokesperson to National Review Online. “That’s up to the president.”
