As has been posted, John Howard shows what statesmanship is all about and why, to quote Matthew D’Ancona on Ken Livingstone from the Telegraph today (before the latest incident),
“There is part of Mayor Livingstone that still aspires to world domination, or at least a much greater role in national political life.
But – as his pitiful behaviour yesterday showed – the bigger he tries to be, the smaller he gets.”
There was just a press conference with Ian Blair the head of the Met Police and the Mayor – compared to Howard earlier in the day, Livingstone’s comments were weak and after his comments of the last couple of days, untenable. Livingstone is no Giuliani. Unfortunately at the press conference no one asked Livingstone if he would blame Blair, Bush or Israel for this one.
