Let’s Hit 75, and Show Rich What Real Fans Can Do

NR’s venerable leader — editor in chief Rich Lowry — fancies himself a sporting fellow.

Well, maybe it’s because Rich has spent too much time following the finished-fourth-in-the-AL-East New York Yankees or watching the (yikes!) 0-5 Virginia Cavaliers, but I think he’s forgotten exactly what a big-time performance looks like or just how much a rough and rowdy crowd of passionate fans can affect a game.

After an editorial meeting yesterday, Rich asked me if I thought that Saturday’s big Oklahoma vs. Texas collision was going to live up to the hype. “Do you think the crowd will be rowdy in Dallas? Do you think the fans will affect the game?”

Rich — in the immortal words of Barry Switzer, the Sooners should “hang half a hundred” on the Texas Longhorns. And a big part of that will because the 45,000 Oklahoma fans in the Cotton Bowl on Saturday are going to drown out the 45,000 orange-clad ne’er-do-wells seated on the north side of the stadium. Count on it.

So channel The King, Rich! Don’t simply settle for the amazing $50,000 that NR has raised in this week’s fundraiser.

I’m appealing to NR’s readers to come through and hang $75,000 on this webathon — $75,000 being our new goal. They know a big-time performance when they see it. They know that Andy McCarthy has been there every step of the way covering the Biden family corruption — back when even whispering about it was verboten in the mainstream press. They know that Jim Geraghty has been cataloguing Hunter Biden’s misdeeds for going on half a decade. And they know that Jeff Blehar hasn’t been afraid to mention the unmentionable fact that Joe Biden’s mental decay is not simply obvious, it’s accelerating.

NR won’t be intimidated into staying silent when reporting on these subjects. But we couldn’t do it without our readers and supporters.

You can — and do! — affect the game.

So please: Consider donating to our webathon to support this coverage.

(By the way: If Oklahoma wins and NR reaches $75K, I’ll promise to force Rich to tweet a picture of himself wearing an Oklahoma jersey and throwing the Horns Down.)
