Krauthammer’s Take: Kerry’s ‘Pernicious’ Israeli Apartheid Comment a ‘Resigning-Type Statement’

Charles Krauthammer called Secretary of State John Kerry’s statement that Israel could become an apartheid state “pernicious, extremely harmful,” and a “resigning-type statement.”

“What the secretary of the United States succeeded in doing, in what he thought was a private comment, is to echo, and therefore legitimize the worst libelous comments against the Jewish state,” he said. 

Israel is one of the only countries in the middle east where Arab people enjoy the rule of law and the freedoms of democracy. Krauthammer noted the Arabs who hold positions in Israeli government and courts.

“To compare that in any way with the systematic discrimination against black Africans in South Africa is truly appalling and hurtful,” he said.
