Kamala Harris to Deliver Closing Argument About January 6

National Review can now confirm that this democracy-versus-chaos pitch that Kamala Harris has spent recent weeks campaigning on will serve as the vice president’s closing argument to voters. Next Tuesday, Harris will deliver a speech at the Ellipse in Washington, D.C., the site of the rally that preceded the January 6 riot nearly four years ago, to urge Americans to turn the page on the chaos of Donald Trump, according to a senior Harris campaign official.

While her remarks are still being finalized, the plan is to spotlight the storming of the U.S. Capitol in January 2021 as a pivotal moment in his presidency, and to warn against the chaos she believes will ensue in a second Trump administration if he wins.

Her campaign advisers believe that Harris’s decision to speak in this symbolic location will crystallize the choice for Americans and contrast her opponent’s presidency with what the campaign says is Harris’s forward-thinking agenda.

Harris’s speech on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., will follow several other campaign stops she’s taking over the next few days, including on Thursday in Georgia, on Friday in Texas, on Saturday in Michigan, and on Sunday in Pennsylvania.
