A Journalism Thing

In my latest column, I mentioned that the spokesman for Key Bank did not get back to me. In fairness, it should be noted that she did return my call after my column had already been filed. For what it’s worth, here is her comment, e-mailed to me today, on the firing of the bank teller who chased down a thief:

For reasons relating to privacy, we cannot comment on this personnel matter further.  This is a matter of protecting the privacy of our current and former employees.

Because this is a matter under investigation, we cannot discuss the details of what occurred.

However, I can say that Key’s highest priority is to protect the safety of its employees and clients above everything else. Our policies and procedures are in the best interests of public safety and are consistent with industry standards. Money, which is insured, can be replaced. Lives cannot.
