Joe Biden Quits the Presidential Race

The letter from Joe Biden’s Twitter/X account is real and accurate. Joe Biden is pulling a Lyndon Johnson and not seeking another term as president.

While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on my duties as president for the remainder of my term.

I will speak to the nation later this week in more detail about my decision.

For now, let me express my deepest gratitude to all those who have worked so hard for my reelection. I want to think Vice President Kamala Harris for being an extraordinary partner in all this work. And let me express my heartfelt appreciation to the American people for the faith and trust you have placed me.

Of course, if Biden is not well enough to run for reelection and serve as president starting on January 20, it raises serious questions about whether he is well enough to serve as president right now.

Considering how adamantly Biden had insisted that he would not quit the race unless his advisers told him he had no path to victory, it is safe to assume that Biden’s campaign staff has told him exactly that. The polling numbers indicate that there was no way Biden was going to defeat Donald Trump.

And all this is the fallout of an early debate that Joe Biden wanted.

These past eight days or so have been a long decade. I thank the president for not disrupting my Saturday plans.
