Who knows if the reporting and buzz are accurate, but they’ve focused on Doug Burgum, J. D. Vance, and Marco Rubio for a while now, with a new Washington Post piece putting Vance and Rubio a step ahead. I wouldn’t discount the possibility of a surprise, but would put the best odds on Vance. Although he can make some claim to helping in the Rust Belt, since that’s a focus of his politics, he’d really be a MAGA governing choice. To the extent these media try-outs matter, he was very smooth on Meet the Press this morning.
