Kang has taken over Obama’s form. The guy who promised to close Gitmo, halve the deficit, rescind the Bush tax cuts, end cynicism and gridlock etc., has been taken over by the same alien who body-snatched Bob Dole in The Simpsons in 1996. Remember Kang’s famous line:
The politics of failure have failed. We need to make them work again. Tomorrow, when you are sealed in the voting cubicle, vote for me, Senator Ka . . . Bob Dole.
That’s a pretty good summary of today’s speech. We must win the future by making sure the failed policies of the past continue to fail well into the future.
