Immigration and the Economy, Ctd.

In a recent post, I mentioned the CBO’s estimate that the Senate immigration bill would cause our per capita GNP in 20 years to be 0.2 percent higher than it would otherwise be. In a follow-up post, Andrew Biggs points out that CBO has estimated that other policies would do a lot more to expand the economy. Raising retirement ages for Medicare and Social Security would yield ten times more increased economic output.
