Ignore Economists, Says a Law Professor

A good number of economists have criticized Kamala Harris’s economic plans, such as price controls and other interventions in the functioning of markets, arguing that her ideas would have terrible consequences.

Writing in the Atlantic, law professor Zephyr Teachout responded to these criticisms by telling Americans to simply ignore what the economists say. That’s easier than trying to explain why they’re wrong.

In this AIER article, David Hebert replies to Teachout, writing that “the fundamental problem with [her] criticism of economists [is that] her grasp of economics itself just does not hold water. Just as economists should stay out of court proceedings, so too should lawyers stay out of making pronouncements about how economies operate.”
