Memo to everyone but Mary Matalin around the roundtable there: Talk radio doesn’t dictate. You might not want to be so quick to dismiss some 20 million who listen to Rush as mindless drones. They actually think for themselves (you might notice he takes callers, many regular Republican listeners who take him on on myriad points — some even support McCain!) and happen to choose to listen to someone who’s intelligent, conservative, and entertaining — and heaven knows, relevant; the whole political class appears to hang on his every show.
