How DEI Has Infiltrated Exercise Science

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion cries are heard everywhere these days, including in the field of exercise science. The leading organization in that field has thrown in with the woke agenda.

So reports Dr. James Nuzzo in today’s Martin Center article.

He begins:

I first encountered DEI in exercise science in 2017. That year, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) published a position paper titled ‘Achieving equity in physical activity participation: ACSM experience and next steps.’ Because ACSM is the leading professional body of exercise-science professors, students, and practitioners in the U.S., the organization has significant influence over higher-education curricula for exercise-science students. If ACSM was weighing in on a new topic, exercise-science faculty had little choice but to listen.

Like so many other organizations, ACSM has fallen under the control of people who are determined to reengineer society. It’s not enough to try to help individuals achieve their best; practitioners are expected to help bring about group “equity.”

The DEI obsession is omnipresent.
