A Speech to be Forgotten

Hillary Clinton might as well run a front-porch campaign. If she wins in November, it’s going to be because of the weakness of Trump and the strength of her party and organization, not her abilities as a campaigner or as a speaker. Despite the tumult caused by the Sanders delegates, the Democrats ran an exceptionally good convention, and an amazingly muscular one (earlier tonight, Gen. John Allen was literally bellowing from the stage about American strength and indispensability). Hillary had been set up perfectly and delivered a pedestrian performance at best. She was the most glaring weakness at her own convention. The speech was completely forgettable, although she did achieve some force when denouncing Trump. There were enough zingers in those portions of the speech to give the press something to latch onto to declare it a success. Otherwise, this thing is disappearing without a trace.
