Hillary’s Best Option for Veep Might Be Cory Booker

Politico Hillary Clinton had a meeting with New Jersey Senator Corey Booker last week. As of today, he’s reportedly still among the options, although Clinton apparently wanted a running mate with national security experience.

Considering the painfully bland, little-known options like Virginia’s Tim Kaine and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Booker might be Hillary’s best choice. He’s charismatic, has actually managed a city, is a whiz on social media, is comparably young and could help encourage African-American turnout.

Sure, Booker has his flaws; during his Senate campaign, we learned a police report contradicts key, dramatic details of his tale of a man dying in his arms; we learned his tales of T-Bone are sketchy to the point of dubiousness; we learned he violated his own law on vacant properties; we’ve learned the human props in the tales of his mayoral heroics don’t think he’s been a good mayor overall; we learned he offers generic cut-and-paste responses to constituents … and that was just Eliana Johnson’s work.

But serial disingenuousness, shady finances, and breaking laws and ethical codes of conduct are the Clinton brand. Booker would fit right in!
