Hillary Vs. Condi — by The Numbers

A new Gallup poll on Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential prospects — the one in which 51 percent of registered voters said they would definitely not vote for her — is getting a lot of attention, but not many people are mentioning that the poll specifically compared the voters’ opinion of Clinton with that of Condoleezza Rice. Pollsters asked, “I’m going to ask you about some people who may run for president in 2008. For each one, please tell me whether you will definitely vote for that person, whether you might consider voting for that person, or whether you will definitely not vote for that person.” For Clinton, 16 percent of registered voters said they would definitely vote for her, 32 percent said they might consider voting for her, and 51 percent said they would definitely not vote for her. For Rice, 14 percent of registered voters said they would definitely vote for her, 38 percent said they might consider voting for her, and 46 percent said they would definitely not vote for her.
