Guns and NASCAR

Kathryn:  Come on.  I have guns, which I clean when they need it, and I enjoyed my one outing to a NASCAR event (for which I had to check the schedules).

I was only pointing out that the house of conservatism has many mansions.  Brooke Allen is chatelaine of one of those mansions; the guns-&-NASCAR folk hold another–much bigger–one.  I’m fine with both.  If I have any “attitude” in this zone, it is one of mild annoyance when, on the rare occasions I write about things like ballet or opera I get scornful emails from NRO readers telling me that I am an effete snob who ought to be living in San Francisco.

I doubt Rudy has any guns, and would be startled to see him greeting the winner at Talladega.  If he’s on the ballot as GOP presidential candidate in 2008, though, I’ll vote for him.  With relish.

He is, after all, an opera fan.
