Senator Lindsey Graham, defending himself for once calling Hillary Clinton a “national treasure,” invoked Ronald Reagan, whom he credited with saving Social Security thanks to regularly drinking with Tip O’Neill.
“That’s the first thing I’m going to do as president; we’re going to drink more,” Graham said, drawing laughs at the CNN First Round debate tonight at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. ”So, yes, I will say nice things at times about Democrats. Yes, I will work with them.”
Graham promised to save Social Security himself, crediting Social Security Survivor Benefits for his own survival after his parents died.
