The Corner

Good Morning, Gov. Jindal

It is now highly likely that Republican Rep. Bobby Jindal will be elected this fall to replace Democrat Kathleen Blanco as governor of Louisiana. Former Sen. John Breaux won’t be running, in part because he had transferred his residence to Maryland and Republicans were threatening to challenge his eligibility. Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, another potential high-profile Democratic aspirant, announced that he will run for re-election, instead. The top Democrat in the race is now Public Service Commissioner Foster Campbell.
