The Corner

Pantastic!

So many dear friends have joined the effort to clothe Jonah, and send a message of sorts to The Donald, that your oddball insults will not go un-oddballed. Hence our limited “Keep Jonah in Pants” webathon (a.k.a. History’s first “Pants-athon”), which asks for solidarity and $25 (about the cost of a decent pair of chinos at Sears). Many have given, sending cash and encouragement. A few selections:

‐Donald (not “The”) sends $100, enough for four pairs, and guffaws “Bet Trump has someone buy his pants, damn sure never been to Walmart.”

‐Brian also sends a Benjamin and a suggestion: “I’m thinking fuchsia capris with cargo pockets.”

‐Ron is all business with his contribution: “Here is a one-time gift of $25.00. And for Mr. Goldberg, please, no polyester slacks!” That’s a protected species now, Ron.

‐Cole sends $25, a mix of cheek, generosity, and dubiousness: “Although I have no proof that Jonah wears pants given all of his profile pictures are suspiciously sans pants, leading me to believe the King of Comb-overs is correct I still think Jonah does fantastic work and would like to help the cause.”

‐Joe drops $25 on NR and matter-of-factly explains: “This is for the Keep Jonah in Pants fund — for obvious reasons.”

‐Rapper/poet Kevin sends his $25 and this lyric “Jonah keeps me in stitches . . . the least I can do is keep him in britches.” A hip, a hop . . . thanks!

‐Marvelous Marvin sends a whopping $250 and exclaims “I want Jonah to have the best pants this will provide for!!!!”

‐And then the glorious Teressa drops $100 on NR and ads this explanation (with a touch of naughty): “I shop at Nordstrom, so there’s no such thing as $25.00 slacks. Here’s $100.00, to keep Jonah in fine chinos! And remind Jonah that we all adore him . . . as he kicks the pants off the left with such style. Trump picked a fight with the wrong guy . . . we’ve got his back, rear, ahem, covered.”

If you want Jonah’s take on the Pants Affair, catch the brand new edition of GLoP (Goldberg, Long, Podhoretz), now up on Ricochet. You can find it here.

The Keep Jonah in Pants drive has raised $3,325, which is . . . pantastic! Help us reach our goal of $5,000 by midnight tomorrow. Donate here. Many thanks to all of you have contributed and who stand by NR and our great writers.
