OK, like many others, I’m a fan of “Liberal Fascism”, but it seems that you are more conservative on things that happened one-hundred years ago than you are on current issues.
As much praise as your book continues to receive, you are never going to damage the Woodrow Wilson administration. He is still going to enter World War I after saying he would not, engage in unprecedented central planning, and jail Americans expressing “dangerous” opposition to his war-time policies.
Meanwhile, back in present-day America, you were recently one of the strongest supporters at NR of John McCain as the Republican nominee, and now you seem to endorse the faux-conservative policies of Douthat and Frum.
PREDICTION: Shortly before the 2012 election, you will come out with a book blasting LBJ’s Great Society. Then you will endorse Lindsey Graham for president and also support some form of nationalized health care.
If you do in fact have a time machine, I apologize, and you and your book may cost Woodrow the 1916 election.
Me: Except for the dubious assertions of fact about my own positions in the here-and-now (and the debatable characterizations of Douthat and Frum), I thought this email was awesome.
