Get While the Gettin’s Good

Several readers offered the same explanation of why Arizona Gov. Napolitano would take the Homeland Secuity job, despite her Senate ambitions. Here’s the way L.D. put it:

Gov. Napolitano took the Homeland Security position because her policies have led to an historic $1.2 billion deficit in Arizona’s current fiscal year. Napolitano has relied on gimmicks, borrowing, but not significant spending cuts in addressing Arizona’s crumbling fiscal situation. Her policies were strongly rejected in this month’s election and the number of conservative Republicans in the state legislature in January will increase.
