A Further Word on the Justice Department

Outside it, I saw a statue of Nathan Hale — and do you remember the controversy surrounding a Hale statue, in the 1980s? William J. Casey — Bill Casey, who was National Review’s founding lawyer, by the way — became CIA director. And he didn’t like that there was a statue of Hale outside headquarters. Why? Got caught, that’s why — set a bad example. As far as I know, nothing ever happened to that statue. But I was surprised to see one at Justice.

And, needless to say, Hale was a great man, deserving memorialization far and wide.
