I have a real sense that maybe this Miers nomination isn’t a foregone conclusion, reading the NYTimes and WashTimes. Staffers were saying such things all around D.C. last week. But the feeling didn’t pass with the weekend. The White House hasn’t come up with a better case. I don’t know how this ends. But maybe it’s not with confirmation.If the vetting stuff John Fund hints at is really going to be a problem, I think she withdraws, especially in this completely unsupportive environment.
