Finn Fatigue

Do you have it yet? Anyway, since this post, people have been bombarding me with names, particularly that of the great runner Paavo Nurmi, the “Flying Finn.” Also, a friend forwards me another “Finnish” Time-magazine cover: the one from July 2, 1956, showing Eero Saarinen, the architect.

It’s a world of Finns, y’all!

Actually, Saarinen was mainly an American, growing up in Michigan. He died in Ann Arbor (a place I have heard of).

And Karita Mattila was pretty much the sexiest thing on the operatic stage until Anna Netrebko came along. Let it never be said that women from cold countries can’t do hot.

Okay, I’m Finn’d out — see you!
