Federal Spending Priorities in a Nutshell

Harry Reid says that if there’s a shutdown, “intelligence would be significantly harmed.” But the Department of Education is keeping the student-loan check-cutters on the job.

So, we’re furloughing the spooks and keeping the educrats on the job? Forgive me if I don’t see shutting down a government like that as catastrophic. Take a nice long nap, guys. I won’t miss you.

Do abortionists really need the money that badly? It’s not like we’re talking about some national treasure like an NEA-sponsored evening of performance art with angry ladies painting the floor with their hair and food products. Harry Reid has chosen an odd hill to die on.
