That’s a satisfying thought, but as blogger Wind Rider points out, the EU (boo, hiss) may also be to blame. The EU’s ban on imports of US soy (because it is genetically modified), has stimulated increases in the land dedicated to soy production in Brazil, some of which is, apparently, being hacked out of the rainforest.
