The End of Fleet Street

Andrew Sullivan laments the end of Fleet Street now that Reuters has departed (the area, not the business. Alas). I’ll miss it too. I interned for the old UPI in London while I was still in high school. I was a bit too young to appreciate everything. My fondest memory was going through the morgue files as they called them. This was before everything was digital and so I spent hours reading clips from ancient newspapers and magazines. But yes, I also remember quite a few drunk hacks walking around too.

Oh if you can’t find Andrew’s post, it’s the one right below where he says he agrees with John Derbyshire on a whole slew of things.

Heh.
