McCain is hitting Romney pretty hard this weekend for allegedly being inconsistent about “goals and timetables” for Iraq. Fine. But is Eagleburger really the guy to deliver this message? It’s a bit rich for a member of the Iraq Study Group who ends up backing McCain to attack other people for not being, in Eagleburger’s words, “rock solid.”
Update: On the other hand, the Eagleburger statement is not nearly as jarring as the Conrad Burns endorsement of McCain. I guess that’s one way of unifying the party: McCain appeals to the people who prosecuted Abramoff and the people connected to him.
