The Downside of Having Polite Readers

I mentioned in an earlier post that some responses from readers were “testy.” Now, as often happens, a lot of people are writing to apologize if they came across badly. Well, here’s the deal: If you are in doubt as to whether you wrote a testy email, you probably didn’t. People who are testy (or rude, insulting or vicious) know it. Nice people worry that they might have been misinterpreted. So, if you’re in doubt, don’t worry about.
