DLC Thrown Overboard?

There was some talk over the weekend and yesterday about the fact that both the DLC and Daily Kos have meetings upcoming. Democratic presidential candidates are all flocking to one and not the other. Not much there there – about the DLC absence — one smart Democratic insider I asked about it says:

There’s less than meets the eye here.  The DLC’s annual meeting, as always, is focused on its state and local network; they’ll probably attract 350-400 elected officials, with a goodly number of governors speaking.  Yearly Kos made a presidential cattle call a priority.  The same thing happened in 2003, when the DLC deliberately decided not to offer presidentials a big role, and managed to get negative press out of that.  I do think it’s safe to predict that the actual Democratic nominee will attend the next DLC annual meeting (as Kerry did in 2004). Right now is when the netroots activists get their time in the sun.

Beyond that, YK is in Chicago, which guaranteed Obama’s attendance, which in turn attracted Hillary, etc., etc.
