Diary Notes

Some notes on my August Diary:

Charles Murray’s new book.  Bernard Chapin has an interview with CM here.Fundamentalist metaphysics  I am being scolded for having agreed with my reader’s suggestion that Murray’s book will be unacceptable to religious fundamentalists on metaphysical grounds. My scolders’ basic message is:  Not at all; what about the Parable of the Talents? Well, yes. And now I’m real glad I said “religious fundamentalists,” not “Christian fundamentalists.” Having said that, I still bet that my reader is on to something — that some religious fundamentalists, including some Christian fundamentalists, will object to Murray’s thesis on precisely the grounds my reader suggested.Flemings, not Walloons.  Gaaaah! My response here is the same as with any other major screw-up in my writing: blame the editors. Where were you guys? Heads should roll.
