Dems v. Housewives

Over the past several weeks, much outrage has been expressed by feminists over To Hell with All That, a collection of essays by Caitlin Flanagan, who writes for the Atlantic and the New Yorker. Flanagan defends the stay-at-home wife and mother. You can follow the controversy by scrolling down the Motherhood archive at Family Scholars Blog. Now Flanagan has a piece in Time in which she reveals that she is a liberal Democrat. All along, Flanagan’s critics have been assuming that she is a conservative Republican. The point, says Flanagan, is that liberals are throwing away the votes of married women (and men) by expressing contempt for traditional families.
