House Oversight Committee ranking member Elijah Cummings (D., Md.) couldn’t contain himself when talking about the IRS’s lavish spending on conferences and training, including a “ridiculous” Star Trek-parody video made by the agency.
“I swear to god, I have looked at that video over and over again, and I swear I do not see the redeeming value,” Cummings said, followed by a chuckle. “I was up at 3 o’clock this morning watching it, because I was trying to get to the redeeming value. Couldn’t get there. I tried hard at it.”
