Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas’s recent ruling in Shelby County v. Holder this week is more damaging to American interests than any classified intelligence Edward Snowden has leaked, according to one Democratic representative.
“Comparing it to Snowden, I’d say the offense is worse,” Representative Hank Johnson of Georgia told the Huffington Post. He explained Thomas was “legally aware of the consequences” of his opinion in the case that struck down certain provisions in the 1965 Voting Rights Act, while Snowden’s decision to reveal classified information reflected “mistaken” judgment.
“He consciously repeats those same steps over and over again to the detriment of the African-American community,” added Johnson, who is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus.
