Cuccinelli: Christie Should ‘Step Aside’ as RGA Head

Ken Cuccinelli thinks the New Jersey governor should step down from his role as chairman of the Republican Governors Association. Even if the charges against Christie that have emerged in recent weeks aren’t substantive, “perception is reality” in the eyes of the public, Cuccinelli said on Tuesday.

“I think just from the perspective of setting aside this as an issue in other races, it makes sense for him to step aside in that role,” the former Virginia gubernatorial candidate said on Crossfire. “He does not serve the goals of the organization by staying as chairman.”

Cuccinelli’s comments come just a couple of months after he lost a closer-than-expected race in Virginia, in which he reportedly invited Christie to campaign with him, but was turned down.
