I didn’t think most of last night’s speakers were very good, but the exception wipes away the rule: Michelle Obama’s speech seemed to me (as I write today at Bloomberg View) very effective: well written, well delivered, and to the point. So far, I think the Democratic convention is going better than the Republican one did. In part, that’s because the Republicans wasted a lot of their time acting on a misunderstanding of the gender gap. The Democrats are going too far on abortion, I suspect, but they have mostly not done so when the networks are covering them.
