Chris Matthews said he was slightly uncomfortable with the racially tinged poll commentary going on at MSNBC, claiming all the racial calculations inherent in poll-watching makes him feel like he’s in South Africa.
“I hate talking ethnically, all this, but it is fascinating to watch what happened with [Georgia Democratic Senate candidate] Michelle Nunn,” he said. “It’s interesting because, she has 27 percent of the white vote — I hate talking like this, I feel like we’re in South Africa, you know, 27 percent of the white vote — and yet everybody says she needs 30!”
“It’s already written down somewhere, exactly what your bar is for each community!” he continued. “It’s pretty awful.”
