As Professor Adler has noted, Doug Kmiec’s endorsement of Barack Obama has been roundly criticized, so I’m not sure there is much more to add. But since I spend a large portion of my time at home watching Veggie Tales with my kids, I thought immediately of this Veggie Tales dialogue about a monkey.
If you substitute “If he doesn’t support the war, then I support him” for “If it doesn’t have a tail, it’s not a monkey,” you’ve pretty much summed up Kmiec’s logic.
As Bob the Tomato would say, “I think there’s something wrong with your logic, Professor Kmiec.”
