Bob Levinson Alive, in Southwest Asia

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in a statement today, “We have received recent indications that Bob [Levinson] is being held somewhere in southwest Asia.” She added, “As the Government of Iran has previously offered its assistance in this matter, we respectfully request the Iranian government to undertake humanitarian efforts to safely return and reunite Bob with his family.”

Levinson disappeared in Iran in March of 2007. He has not been heard from since, though his family has revealed to sources that he was working as a private investigator. President Ahmadinejad has been coy about his knowledge of Levinson’s whereabouts, though rumors have abounded that Levinson was picked up by the Revolutionary Guard.
