With regard to NR’s just-published editorial on our involvement in Ukraine, many of you know my feelings, but I’ll restate them briefly: These aren’t investments, they are bills coming due — our treasure, their blood — for the foolish and false promises made by Bush and the utopianism of thinking we could stage the largest military buildup of a NATO-interoperable force on Russia’s border and she would react to this with grace.
And all I see coming in the future are more bills — Ukraine as a financial and security dependent indefinitely, even as its infrastructure still ties it to Russia.
