Bill Richardson: a Constituency of One

I understand that Bill Richardson wants to be president so he’s going to do as much media as possible. I think this is a mistake. Though he’s no John Kerry, he has a touch of Kerry in the sense that the more you’re exposed to him, the less impressive he is.

So why do the Sunday shows constantly put him on? He says absolutely nothing of interest and is almost entirely banal while saying it. I haven’t talked to a lot of liberals about him lately, but my sense is he has no significant following among important segments of the party and he’s certainly nowhere in the polls. I’d rather hear from the Deputy Press Secretary of the DNC.
