A bill that would repeal Pennsylvania laws granting unions widespread exemption from lawsuits for stalking, harassment, and making terrorist threats has passed the Pennsylvania state house.
By a 115–74 vote, the house approved the bill on Wednesday, and it will now head to the senate, the York Dispatch reports.
National Review Online previously reported on the exemptions union members get in Pennsylvania state law and the bill to fix them, sponsored by state representative Ron Miller.
Miller says the current laws, which “allow intimidation, stalking, and harassment,” will eventually lead to people doing “things that are truly illegal.” Unions defend the special privileges as a way to protect their free-speech rights in labor disputes that can sometimes become violent or hostile.
