Senator Biden was yelling about the fundamental right to die by having a feeding tube removed, and demanding to know whether any legislature can interfere with that right. He is, of course, referring to the Terri Schiavo matter. But it is worth recalling that the federal Schiavo law was strongly bipartisan. It received UNANIMOUS consent in the United States Senate. If Biden or any other Democrat or Republican had wanted to prevent the federal law from being enacted, all he had to do was refuse his consent and there would have been no law. That law also received nearly half of the votes in the House Democratic caucus. This means that the federal Schiavo law was one of the most bipartisan votes in recent memory.
Of course, Biden restricted his inquiry to state legislative involvement. What disgraceful hypocrisy.
