Biden Lectures Donors, ‘We Can’t Waste Any More Time Being Distracted’

What is the worst possible way for a president to address concerns that he’s no longer able to perform his duties, that his doctor met with a Parkinson’s disease expert earlier this year, that outside experts are recommending he take a cognitive test and neurological testing, and that what he describes in recent events is not what occurred?

Probably to insist that it’s all just a distraction from more important matters.

A defiant President Joe Biden insisted to his donors on Monday that he is “done talking about the debate” and implored the party to ignore any further distractions and direct its attention back to Donald Trump.

“We need to move forward. Look, we have roughly 40 days til the convention, 120 days til the election. We can’t waste any more time being distracted,” Biden said in a private call with donors Monday, according to a recording obtained by POLITICO.

Er, no, Mr. President, the concern that your mind doesn’t work the way it used to, that you need large-print and photographed basic instructions just to speak from a podium, that you can barely do on-camera interviews or press conferences anymore — those aren’t distractions. Those are aspects of the issue at the moment, and it will remain the issue until those concerns are dispelled by concrete evidence, or until Biden is no longer the nominee.
