Benedict’s Time Line

THe Vatican press spokesman is making the argument that the Pope’s omission of Israel from a list of nations hit by terrorist attacks in “recent days” wasn’t an omission because the attacks in Netanya took place 12 days earlier.

Evidently there was a 5 day cut-off when the Pope spoke, which is…interesting…

But the fact that this confusing time line ruffled feathers in Israel seemed to bring out the belligerent side in Pope Benedict’s spokesman.

“It’s surprising that one would have wanted to take the opportunity to distort the intentions of the Holy Father,” Navarro-Valls said a statement. “Obviously the other week’s grave attack in Netanya referred to by Israel falls under the general and unreserved condemnation of terrorism.”

Well…okay….
